ACARES Monthly Meeting -- June 8th 7:00pm -- CCSD ESC 4700 S. Yosemite St. Greenwood Village, CO

Projects we are currently working on.

Pocket FOG - A small booklet ~ 5x7 booklet that includes all of the information needed when responding to an incident or working in the field with one of our served agencies. The last items needed are guides to some of our served agencies Dispatch Centers and the 3 Mobile Command Vehicles. If you can help prepare materials for any of these sites please let us know.

We also need people to help us in creating Field Operations Guides for the various dispatch centers and command vehicles so they can be included in the guide above.

Website - The website is an always evolving and in need of content and updating. This new framework should make it much easier to do. If you can navigate and create documents in word editing software you can help up with the website.

Mapbook - ACARES needs a map book that the entire group can use and carry when working with our served agencies. There are plenty of digital options available but we recognize that not everyone has access to these resources in the field and believe that something we can carry on paper is appropriate.

Hazards - In addition to the Mapbook we need to make a list that can be placed on a map of hazardous locations. When we had the heavy rains in September 2013 we identified a number of areas where water impeded traffic or created hazardous situations. Also, during the winter there are areas where blowing snow, ice, or other related hazards are located. If we have a list of these we can better respond to the requests of our served agencies for monitoring these situations as well as keeping our own selves safe.

If you are interested in helping with any of these projects or have another project let Mark, KD5DKQ know.

Build A Kit

A disaster supplies kit is simply a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency. Try to assemble your kit well in advance of an emergency. You may have to evacuate at a moment’s notice and take essentials with you. You will probably not have time to search for the supplies you need or shop for them.
