ACARES Monthly Meeting -- December 13th 7:00pm -- CCSD Educatonal Support Center

Meeting this Thursday, May 12, 1900 at the ESC on the Southeast corner of Yosemite and Union. A lot of our folks will be up at Hamcon so this will be an open or Administrative meeting. The focus will be the attached sheet which is my attempt at gathering your input on problems you see and suggestions you have. I created the forms are a result of the many e-mails I have received since the announcement of my appointment as EC. In most cases I had to play 20 questions via e-mail to pull information out of the sender and figure out what his/her suggestion or concern is. To save an enormous amount of time I created the attached forms and ask you to fill them out with your suggestion or concern. For the meeting we will devote as much time as possible to the suggestions/concerns that are brought in that night or sent to me beforehand. This will not be a free for all. If you have a suggestion/concern you will be expected to write it down on the attached, If you are not willing to write it down it will not be entertained at the meeting as we simply do not have the time to play 20 questions. If you are serious, write it down in the attached format and let's have an adult discussion about it. The documents mentioned can be downloaded here: MSWORD format and PDF format

Fire Radio's - I had an overwhelming response and want to thank who volunteered! I will send an e-mail out to the group tomorrow morning with the information people have volunteered thus far. ACSO was not expecting such a quick and large response and now they are trying to get their stuff together so Kudos to ACARES!

Adams County, R1D1, is requesting help for an exercise they are working with Adams County & the City of Brighton per the e-mail below. It is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 11, 2016, if you can, please consider helping them out. We may need to request their help at some point!

Thanks to George, WA9TCD, for calling and finding out the time is roughly 8am and going for about 3 hours.

If you are able to participate please contact R1D1 Operations Officer Jeff Lindhorst, This email address is being protected from spambots. Participation - Whenever you participate in Amateur Radio activities as a representative of ACARES or as an Amatuer please let Brice, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or me, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., know so that we can track it. That information not only helps you but it helps ACARES by showing our communities and served agencies that we do more than just the obvious public activities.

Weather - Spring time in the Rockies. After our weather yesterday skirted us it dropped a tornado outside of Wiggins leaving a path of destruction 1/2 mile wide and ~6 miles long. Is your GoKit ready and able to sustain you for at least 72 hours? Can you program your handheld or mobile without a computer? Do you have cheatsheets for both that you carry with you? Borrowing the Boy Scout's motto we need to Be Prepared!

Thank-you all for your participation and as always do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.
